As someone who has cared for dogs before, I completely understand how challenging it can be to keep an eye on them and ensure they don’t get into trouble. Just like toddlers, dogs are endlessly curious, and the world is their playground, leading to unpredictable situations.
That unpredictability was exactly what Cloud’s foster mom, Jean, had to navigate when Cloud got into a bit of trouble while playing outside with her siblings. A bee sting can happen in a split second, but Jean’s quick reaction saved the day.
Cloud’s Backstory
Cloud’s journey began when she and her siblings were rescued by Hope Animal Rescue in North Carolina. Being part of a litter of nine puppies, they all needed foster homes, which wasn’t an easy task considering the number of pups involved.
Initially, Jean wasn’t sure she could foster Cloud, as she had plans to travel and couldn’t commit to the entire litter. However, in a last-minute decision, she chose to stay home and care for all nine puppies rather than leave town. Her dedication to these pups was evident from the start, as she and her husband made adjustments to accommodate their playful new arrivals.
Jean’s husband even built a special outbuilding for the puppies, complete with air conditioning to ensure their comfort. The yard surrounding it served as a playground for the puppies to explore and enjoy, making it an ideal environment for their care.

Cloud’s Bee Sting Incident
Just as the puppies were starting to settle into their new home, Cloud’s adventure took a turn. While playing in the yard, she was stung by a bee. Thankfully, Jean noticed right away and rushed Cloud to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
The vets examined Cloud and recommended that she stay for the day. However, when Jean returned home, she realized that two other puppies seemed to have been bitten or stung as well. Her husband hadn’t noticed, so they were quickly taken to an emergency vet. Fortunately, their condition wasn’t as serious, and a simple Benadryl shot was enough to help them recover.
Despite the treatment, Cloud’s face remained swollen, which left Jean worried. However, the vets reassured her that Cloud was fine to go home, and with continued care and Benadryl, Cloud’s swelling finally went down by the next morning. She was back to her happy, playful self in no time.
A Happy Outcome
Cloud’s story highlights how much care and attention foster families give to rescue pups like her. While it’s not clear yet if Cloud and her siblings have found their forever homes, it’s comforting to know that they are receiving the love and care they need to thrive. Jean and her husband’s commitment to these puppies is heartwarming, and it’s clear they’re doing everything they can to give them the best possible start in life.
Just like many dog owners, Jean had to be vigilant, keeping an eye out for any potential dangers. Cloud’s bee sting was a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong, but with quick action and love, everything turned out alright.
